Patching Mambo 4.5

In Mambo terms, patching Mambo means to upgrade Mambo. Mambo upgrades are released as patches. On this page we look at how to upgrade old releases of Mambo to the last of the Mambo 4.5 branch, which is Mambo 4.5.6.

Patching Mambo to Upgrade to Later Versions

Upgrading Mambo from old versions requires the application of several changes to the MySQL database. These upgrades need to be done incrementally, in the order of each upgrade between your current version of Mambo the the latest release.

Mambo SQL files for upgrading your version of Mambo

Upgrade from 4.5 1.0.9 to 4.5.1 zip

Upgrade from 4.5.1 to 4.5.2 zip

Downloadable zip file containing SQL upgrade patches for versions of Mambo prior to 4.5.1

Steps to upgrade to Mambo 4.5.6

Step 1: Backup your site (both database & site files).

Step 2: Take your site offline: Site->Global Configuration->Site Offline (YES).

Step 3 (a):Upgrading from 4.5 Stable (1.0.7) to 4.5 Stable (1.0.9)

Run the following sql in order:

upgrade45_109to451.sql

upgrade451to452.sql

Step 3 (b): Upgrading from 4.5.2 to 4.5.6

Remove the tinymce directory from your current install. The path to this directory is /mambots/editors/tinymce.

Step 4: Replace your files with the files from the complete 4.5.6 package.

Step 5: Bring your site back online: Site->Global Configuration->Site Offline (NO).

That's it. Patch complete.

Many extensions are no longer in development. Some are major security risks. Please use your preferred search engine to search for the name of your extensions with the word "vulnerability". If you find reports of vulnerabilities either find out if newer versions exist or consider removing the extension.
