Accessing phpMyAdmin

Most users will go through their web hosting package's control panel to start phpMyAdmin. You may bookmark the phpMyAdmin interface directly. Once you have accessed your account control panel (assuming your host provides cPanel), you will:

  • Find and click on the MySQL Database icon

  • Scroll down to the bottom of the MySQL Databases page and click on the phpMyAdmin link.

  • After the page loads, you will see a page similar to the one shown below. Note that the skin (or look) of the phpMyAdmin interface may differ from the one shown in this how-to.

  • On the left, towards the top, of the screen, select the database you want to manage.

  • Be patient, it may take a short time to load. You will see something similar to the image displayed below. The phpMyAdmin always displays a list of tables in the database on the left hand side for quick access.

From here, you can backup, restore, or do any other management tasks required on the database.

Be careful: do not attempt any tasks in phpMyAdmin without a solid backup, even if you are sure of what you are doing.
