Artwork, such as images and other graphics, is extremely important to the Mambo project. All software relies on images to provide visual aids that assist users. Consider the icons and other graphic elements that go into the applications you use every day. We are all so used to seeing small images of a globe when we create a hyperlink, or a printer icon that we click on to print a document. The commonplace "save"icon has outlived the floppy disk that it represents. All GUI applications require this kind of artwork and Mambo is no exception.

Graphic artists and designers often don't realise how much their contributions are needed in a project. The graphic elements determine the whole look and feel of the Mambo interface and enrich user experience of Mambo by providing visual aids to navigation and to functions such as editing content.

Mambo also uses artwork for marketing. Promotional materials such as posters and flyers used at expos to promote the use of Mambo, banners and buttons for Mambo users to display on their web sites, and buttons to denote special status within the Mambo community (such as membership in teams etc).

In the past, Mambo has struggled to find graphic artists who are willing to donate their time and skills to improving Mambo. A successful software package needs artwork and this section of our wiki has been created in the hope that the artists and designers among you will join with Mambo to add the visual appeal the code deserves.

Have a look around at the artwork Mambo currently has available. If you would like to contribute to Mambo's artwork, simply register on the wiki here then sign and send back the Mambo Contributor Agreement and add a covering note that this is for Artwork, and provide your wiki username. Upon receipt of the MCA you will be given access to the wiki so that you can collaborate with other artists and designers and upload your images.
