Many people get confused by the name of the "Latest News" module. The Latest News module will by default show the latest items from all of your sections / categories. It is not restricted to items from the News section / category. This makes it a very powerful tool in creating your Mambo website.
You can set up the Latest news module to show any of the following:
- a single category
- a number of categories
- a single section
- a number of sections
From the administrator backend, go to modules->site modules->latest news - parameters and specify which category/categories/section/sections you wish to use. (You will need to look up the category or section id in the section or category manager).
If you want to have more Latest News modules showing in your site and containing different items, this is easy to do. You can make a copy of any module. From your administrator backend, go to the Module Manager. Find the module you want in the list of site modules, select it, then select copy from the options above. Name your new copy of Latest News anything you like, set it to show whichever category(s) or section(s) you like, and save.
So, you see, this module is much more than just a block showing your latest content items.
